Newgrange and Knowth Opening Hours

All access to Newgrange and Knowth is through Brú Na Bóinne Visitor Centre. The Centre and Newgrange are open all year round closing for just a few days in December i.e. Dec 24th – 27th inclusive. Knowth is open May 1st – Oct 31st.

The Brú na Bóinne Visitor Centre which serves Newgrange and Knowth.

The opening hours are as follows:

Nov to Feb 9.30 - 17.00
March to April 9.30 - 17.30
May 9.00 - 18.30
June to mid-September 9.00 -19.00
Mid - September to end September 9.00 - 18.30
October 9.30 - 17.30

The last tour of either Newgrange or Knowth will leave the Visitor Centre 1 hour 45 minutes before the closing time of the Centre, and last admission to the Visitor Centre is 45 minutes before closing.

Newgrange.

A tour of Newgrange or Knowth takes approx 1hour 15 minutes. A visit to both sites takes a minimum of 3 hours. Between the months of May and September the sites are very busy and there are long delays for the tours. Access to the monuments cannot be guaranteed. It is advised to arrive as early in the day as possible, and certainly no later then 13.00.

The sites are outdoors so good shoes and raincoats are recommended.

It is not possible to reserve in advance as we operate on a first come first served basis.
