Other astronomy and sky photographs

SOLSTICE MOON: Photos of the perigree full moon which rose over the Irish Sea at the time of Summer Solstice, June 22nd, 2005.
NORTHERN LIGHTS: A display of the Aurora Borealis (Northern Lights) over Ireland on January 21st, 2005, plus other images on the same night.
COMET MACHHOLZ: An image of the naked eye comet, C/2004 Q2 Machholz, pictured with a Nikon D70 through a Celestron NexStar 11 GPS telescope while the comet was in the constellation Perseus. Jan 2005.
SATURN: My first efforts to image Saturn and its rings using a Philips ToUCam Pro II and a Celestron NexStar 11 GPS telescope. Amateur astronomers can now achieve impressive results using relatively basic imaging equipment.
AURORA BOREALIS 2004: A mild Northern Lights display occurred over Ireland on November 9th, 2004, which took the form of a green glow on the northern horizon. Here are some photos of that display set in the context of famous historical sites.
JUPITER: revolutionary – but cheap – methods now allow amateur astronomers, using modest equipment, to take reasonably good photos of the planets. Here are my first efforts to capture Jupiter using a webcam and a camcorder.
MOON AND FIRESKY: A photo of an almost full Moon framed by blazing fiery red clouds at around sunset.
