A
view of the Milky Way in the historic Boyne Valley
|
|
| A
view of the Milky Way galaxy and the dark clouds running through the
Summer Triangle, from Deneb and Cygnus down through Aquilla towards
Sagittarius. The photo was taken with a Nikon D70 camera, and was
a 55-second exposure at f3 using a high ISO setting (1600). The large
megalith in the foreground is at the ancient stone age site at Newgrange,
in the Boyne Valley, Ireland. The Boyne river gets its name from the
Milky Way. In old Irish, the Milky Way was "Bealach na Bó
Finne", the "Way of the Bright Cow". The word Boyne
is from Irish, Bó Finne, the Bright Cow. |
