Tara Valley - a huge message to the world
Tara Harp

1,500 PEOPLE CREATE UNIQUE APPEAL

On Sunday 23rd September 2007 1,500 people converged on the Hill of Tara, Co Meath, Ireland to form the first human harp image. This was accompanied by the message SAVE TARA VALLEY. At 3.15pm in the afternoon the helicopter swooped down to snap the images on the hill beside the iconic monuments.
The event was organised by the internationally renowned aerial artist John Quigley who has carried out similar photographs all over the world, including a striking image of SOS on an iceberg in Antarctica and at London's eye warning about Climate Chaos.

Among those who helped to organise and participated in the event were Stuart Townsend who has just finished directing his first film "Battle of Seattle" and Jonathan Rhys Meyers who is starring as Henry viii the the TV series The Tudors at present. Also present were harpers, including Laoise Kelly co-organiser of the gathering of harpers outside Dáil Éireann on Saturday 22 September, as well as singers Pádraigín Ní Uallacháin and Tríona Ní Dhomhnaill. This was intended as a message to Irish Government and to the Irish diaspora all over the world that Tara's landscape should be protected and turned into a heritage park. Click here for news updates

OVER five thousand years ago a most sophisticated and enigmatic community of people began to arise on the island of Ireland. They were the megalithic builders of the Stone Age, cunning engineers and master astronomers who systematically assembled a vast calendrical and astronomical scheme which would stand intact over five millennia.

Kenny's Irish Bookshop - Book of the Month March 2007 (Science & Nature):

"This is a refreshing and fascinating new book on the ancient monuments of Ireland more specifically those of the Boyne Valley . . . The first paragraph gives a delightful taste of things to come . . . What follows is a wonderful magical book, sumptuously illustrated and a must for anyone who loves to delve deep into our past."
