'AS ABOVE SO BELOW' DOCUMENTARY ABOUT ANCIENT ASTRONOMY
This is a short clip from a one-hour documentary called 'As Above, So Below' made by the Dutch film-maker Roel Oostra. I have taken part in numerous films and documentaries, and find this one to be my all-time favourite. I love the mix of imagery and beautiful music. It's a wonderful production.
Dowth - the artist and the legend - captures some of the monument's atmosphere.
In the fading midsummer light, artist Richard Moore captures the atmosphere at the Stone Age monument of Dowth. There is a stillness about Dowth, a calm tranquility. It is a haven, a retreat from the hustle and bustle of the world, a sacred spot, venerated since ancient times.
As the darkness comes, inevitably, even on the longest days of the year, the legend of Dowth comes alive again. The artist's work is done, and he packs up for home. As the distant lights illuminate, we are reminded of a time when light, and flame, were sacred, and when the distant hills were a day's journey away.
