Ardmulchan - one of the beautiful places of the world

A short video clip (4mins, 8MB) by Anthony Murphy, made with relatively cheap equipment. I have lots of plans for films, in particular a documentary based on our book Island of the Setting Sun, but in the meantime I'll try my hand at making short videos such as this to improve my technique and camera skills. I would appreciate a suggestion for some more appropriate music for this video. I love Enya, but I just don't think this piece fits with the mood. Suggestions welcome by email at mythicalireland AT eircom DOT net

This video was shot over a period of about two hours at Ardmulchan, overlooking the Boyne near Navan, Co. Meath. It is one of my favourite places. It is, as of this time, relatively unspoiled (electricity cables notwithstanding!). I hope it remains that way forever. It's such a moving place. The graveyard is beautiful, not at all threatening or dark. There is a walkway along the Boyne which connects Navan in Drogheda for those who like to get out into nature.

I deem this place to be very ancient. There is a national monument adjacent to the old graveyard - a circular barrow-like structure positioned on a high, prominent bank overlooking the Boyne. The castle ruin in the distance is Dunmoe - meaning "Fort of the Cow" - another place likely to be very ancient. Many places along the Boyne are connected with the ancient cow goddess, Bóinn, from whom the Boyne is named. The sacred river was viewed as the earthly equivalent of the Milky Way.
