Constructed during the Neolithic period by Ireland’s first farming communities, it may be more than 5,000 years old. Its open court provided a place where people could gather, while the chambers beyond were associated with burial, remembrance and the ancestors.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIn this photograph, the pale stones of the ancient monument stand out beneath an immense storm-filled sky.
