The West Cross (Tall Cross) at Monasterboice under the stars

The West Cross or Tall Cross at Monasterboice, under the winter stars at night. This is its west face. Irish high crosses have been described as "scripture for the illiterate" and "Bibles for the poor" by the late Prof. Donnchadh Ó Córrain of NUI Galway. Many of the crosses were carved in the ninth and tenth centuries and are made from sandstone.
