I have begun to capture a new series of images in which lights of different colours are used to illuminate monuments and archaeological features. I was very blessed to receive a lovely gift last week from a cinematographer friend – an LED light which can be changed to almost any colour!

I had a lovely opportunity yesterday to try the light out in the chamber of Fourknocks and at the Hill of Tara after dark. The image here, showing the chamber of Dumna na nGiall (Mound of the Hostages) at Hill of Tara, Co. Meath, is the first of a series of images I captured.

I experimented with various colours, but really think this combination works well. Some of the other images I captured are a bit more "out there", but I will share them in the coming days and hope that you enjoy looking at them as much as I enjoyed capturing them.

Hope you like this image - taken today - of the Mound of the Hostages, a Neolithic passage-tomb on the Hill of Tara.
