Capturing nice images of the northern lights in Ireland can be quite a challenge. Many aurora displays are confined to the northern horizon, and often the street lights of towns and villages can wash out the sky. On this occasion, there was a brief appearance of the aurora borealis (northern lights) over Síd in Broga (Newgrange). A great display of aurora was seen in various parts of Ireland, but here in the Boyne Valley it was mostly cloudy. I was lucky to capture these green pillars of light before clouds swamped the view and spoiled the show.
