Mythical Ireland tour of the archaeology, mythology and history of Dowth

I am delighted to report that today's tour of the archaeology, mythology and history of the great megalithic passage-mound of Dowth in the Boyne Valley was a tremendous success. Around 45 people participated in the tour, and the rain held off until the tour was finished!

In the space of an hour and a half, I gave a detailed history of the monument, its relationship to its sister mounds of Newgrange and Knowth, and an exploration of the mythology of Dowth.

This is the first in a series of planned public tours by Mythical Ireland. The next one takes place at Fourknocks on Saturday 12th November. Due to restricted parking at that monument, I will hold three separate tours, at 11am, 12.30pm and 2pm. Details and tickets at this link.

Anthony’s fluent flow of words, his skill in making rich and dense information accessible to the listener and his good-humoured style made my first visit to Dowth a truly enjoyable and memorable occasion. I am really looking forward to attending future tours facilitated by Anthony. Roslyn Hickey
