About this experience

After the popularirty of this event at our June Bank Holiday weekend, Boyne Valley Trails, in collaboration with Mythical Ireland and Boyne Voyage are bringing back "Sacred Currents: A Journey on the Boyne"– a unique adventure exploring the mythology of the Boyne from a private kayak tour. Step onto the waters of one of Ireland’s most sacred rivers and experience the Boyne as it was meant to be encountered – flowing, alive, and rich with story.

Join David Buckley of Boyne Voyage and Anthony Murphy of Mythical Ireland for a unique and immersive event.

As you kayak along the tranquil waters of the River Boyne at Oldbridge, you will be guided safely by David, an experienced and fully insured kayaking instructor who will ensure everyone is comfortable on the water, whether beginner or experienced paddler.

Along the journey, Anthony will bring the landscape to life – revealing the deep history, archaeology, myths and legends that make the Boyne Valley one of the most remarkable and storied places in the world. From ancient monuments to tales of gods, goddesses and sacred knowledge, this is a journey through both landscape and legend.

Anthony Murphy is the founder of Mythical Ireland, a long-running project exploring Ireland’s ancient monuments, myths and astronomical traditions. A writer, photographer, filmmaker and independent researcher, he has spent 27 years documenting the archaeology and mythology of the Boyne Valley and beyond. His drone photography during the drought of 2018 helped reveal previously unknown archaeological sites near Newgrange, gaining international attention. Through books, tours, talks, online courses and a large social media following, Anthony brings Ireland’s mythic landscape to a wide audience. Ireland: Land of Legend is his eleventh book and his latest exploration of the stories that shaped ancient Ireland.
