Before cities, before castles, before history itself, there were the stones.
On Saturday 13th September, Anthony Murphy of Mythical Ireland and Simon Tuite of Monumental Ireland will lead you to the megalithic heart of Ireland: Sligo, a landscape carved with mystery, myth and the echoes of our ancestors. From ancient monuments to breathtaking landscapes, this is a trip through time you won’t want to miss.
We’ll leave Mullingar, board our Megalithic Bus and journey West at 09:00 SHARP, to walk among the ancient tombs and sacred spaces where stories still linger in the air. We will visit Creevykeel court tomb, the Carrowmore passage-tombs and the breathtaking Carrowkeel passage-tombs on the Bricklieve Mountains. We will stop for lunch - location TBC - then continue on the tour. Leaving Sligo at 18:00 and returning to Mullingar for 19:30. Note that at Carrowkeel, we will have a 20- to 30- minute walk from where the bus stops to reach the cairns. It's a bit of a hike, so make sure you are fit and able for hillwalking, and bring appropriate hiking footwear and clothing.
