High on the edge of the Sperrin Mountains, where the wide Tyrone sky opens above a vast and ancient landscape, the stone circles of Beaghmore lie like a forgotten map upon the earth.
This evocative drone photograph captures one of Ireland’s most remarkable prehistoric ceremonial complexes from a rare and revealing perspective. From above, the full pattern of Beaghmore begins to emerge: circles, stone rows, cairns and alignments arranged across the open moorland, their pale stones standing in quiet contrast against the greens, golds and purples of the surrounding fields and heather.
The view is both intimate and expansive. In the foreground, the monument seems almost close enough to touch — each circle a gathering of stones, each row a deliberate line drawn by hands thousands of years ago. Beyond them, the land rolls away towards distant hills, farms, forestry and open bog, reminding us that these places were never isolated. They belonged to a living landscape of sky, horizon, season and memory.
Beaghmore has long been associated with astronomical observation, ritual activity and the mysteries of Bronze Age Ireland. Seen from the air, it invites contemplation: why were these stones placed here? What did they mark? What ceremonies, gatherings, or seasonal events unfolded beneath these same skies?
This print is ideal for anyone drawn to Ireland’s ancient monuments, sacred landscapes and deep prehistory. It is a piece that rewards repeated looking — the eye wandering from stone circle to stone row, from heather to horizon, from the visible remains to the unseen world of those who created them.
A striking and atmospheric addition to any home, study or sacred space, this limited edition print brings the quiet power of Beaghmore into the room: an ancient place, beautifully preserved in light, landscape and memory.
