Blue hour along the Boyne in Drogheda. The crescent moon is reflected in the water in this image showing River Court and the Boyne Valley (Cable) Bridge. The 'blue hour' much loved by some landscape photographers, is the time of twilight between sunset and absolute darkness. The sky can be seen to change in colour as the night comes on, and when the deep blues emerge this creates an opportunity for some wonderfully atmospheric photography.

The image was taken along the public pathway that hugs the river Boyne at Mell, along the northern fringes of the river. The Mary McAleese Boyne Valley Bridge (known since it was built as the Boyne Cable Bridge) can be seen in the distance.
