Living just 10 minutes from Newgrange, I am privileged to have been able to take many photographs at the famous monument over the past 25 years. At the time of winter solstice, I arranged to get access to the monument in morning twilight, with the special permission of the OPW. Thus I was able to capture this image of kerb stone 52 (one of just three of the heavily decorated kerb stones at Newgrange) using remote lighting, and all under a brooding sky on one of the shortest days of the year.
