No. That honour falls to Keith Richards.
All joking aside, this is certainly the most famous stone in Ireland. The exquisitely carved entrance kerb stone at Newgrange (Síd in Broga) is adorned with a large triple spiral among other spirals and lozenge motifs. It is an incredible work of artisanship, not surpassed anywhere in the Neolithic world. Labelled kerb stone 1, it is one of 97 large slabs of shale called greywacke which were brought here from the Irish Sea coast some 31km away by sea and river in prehistory in what was one of the greatest construction projects in ancient Europe. If this stone and its sublime carvings don't impress you, nothing about Newgrange will. It is a work of sheer beauty.
